What Can I Expect During My Massage?
Before your first massage, the massage therapist will gather necessary information about you, such as any allergies, recent surgeries, illnesses or accidents, whether you are pregnant, what medications you are taking, if you have had a massage before, the type of massage and how long ago it was. You may want to show up about 15 minutes early to fill out these forms. You should come dressed comfortably and take no aspirin, pain killers, or alcohol on the day of the appointment. After the initial assessment, you will have a few minutes to yourself in the room to get onto the massage table. The massage therapist will leave the room, so you may have privacy. At this point, you may get undressed, taking off only the amount of clothing that you are comfortable with. There will be space provided for your personal items and clothing and a sheet and blanket are always provided to respect your modesty and maintain professionalism.
During the session, the massage therapist will check with you about the pressure of the strokes. Feel free to speak up at any time. We want you to be sure you get the most out of your time with us. You receive the time on the table that you have purchased. Your time does not start until the therapist begins the session. Please be aware, due to our time commitments to other clients, this can only be achieved if you arrive on time for your appointment.
After your massage you may feel a floating sensation or lightheadedness. This is normal. Give yourself 5 to 15 minutes to recover. After your massage you may also experience a little soreness, so be sure you drink plenty of water for the next day or two.
