Therapeutic Massage:
Therapeutic Massage is the manual manipulation of the body's soft tissue for the purpose of stimulating circulation and promoting relaxation. It has been used in many world cultures for more than 4,000 years. Therapeutic massage involves the manipulation of soft tissue structures of the body to prevent and alleviate pain, discomfort, muscle spasm, and stress. It also improves the functioning of the circulatory, lymphatic, and nervous systems, and may improve the rate at which the body recovers from injury and illness. Massage is a quiet and relaxing experience that promotes well being while physically benefiting the body in many ways from prevention of heart disease to debilitating muscle tension.

Swedish Massage:
Swedish massage is primarily used for relaxation. Cream or oil may be used with light strokes. Usually, this is a full body massage. You may want to have some areas skipped or opt to have the massage therapist work on all of your body.

Deep Tissue Massage:
Deep Tissue massage is a goal-oriented massage. With this type of work, the massage therapist may use his/her forearms, elbows or thumbs to apply pressure. Deep tissue work can be used in conjunction with Swedish massage to loosen the muscles in a specfic area,or by itself for a mini-target session.

Trigger Point:
Trigger point therapy is a bodywork technique that involves the applying of pressure to tender muscle tissue in order to relieve pain and dysfunction in other parts of the body. Oftentimes, massage and trigger point therapy are performed together.

Medical Massage:
Medical massage is a manual technique that is used in a rehabilitative therapy environment. It is not a general massage treatment like Swedish; rather, it is a therapy applied to a specific problem area or pathology. Certified medical massage therapists use many of the same techniques as Swedish massage, but combines several manual therapies, including Swedish Massage, Deep Tissue Massage, Trigger Point, Neuromuscular Massage, Craniosacral therapy, and manual lymph drainage in order to soften tissue and then get to the deep muscle tissue, complex joint systems, and inelastic connective tissue.

Hot Stone Massage:
Hot Stone Massage involves the application of water-heated basalt stones of varying sizes to key points on the body, giving a deep massage and creating sensations of comfort and warmth. The basalt stones come from river beds and are heated in hot water to your comfort level. Hot Stone Massage is the ultimate in pampered luxury when you want to rebalance the physical body and completely sooth the mind and spirit. Hot stones can also be effective when used during Reflexology treatments to de-stress and stimulate tiny nerve endings in the feet. The direct heat that hot stones provide help relax muscles, allowing manipulation of a greater intensity than with regular massage. Hot stones expand blood vessels, which push blood and waste through the nervous system. This gives the body a sedative effect. Hot Stone Massage is a deep, healing massage technique that also promotes enhanced awareness.
